As more consumers become concerned with facial recognition, a new AI tool dubbed Anonymizer can help users protect their identity by generating lookalike faces. The tool will be useful for journalists, whistleblowers, and protestors looking to remain anonymous.
Generated Media, the company that built the software, says it created Anonymizer as “a useful way to showcase the utility of synthetic media.” Anonymizer was created by using tens of thousands of photos that are then fed to generative adversarial networks. This software can create a new image by splicing two neural networks against each other.
To use the tool, simply upload a clear picture of yourself and view the grid of 20 doppelgangers. The tool is free for personal use and companies can also buy a license o use the software for commercial purposes.
