Curvilinear Architectural Designs

AND-RÉ Atelier Has Completed Its Award-Winning Public Structure

Design house AND-RÉ architecture atelier has completed its award-winning design for the Alto Tâmega Tourism Information Center in Portugal.

The structure is 100 square meters and is surrounded by richly foliated trees. The information center is a circular structure that has an undulating facade made of timber battens. The timber pillars wrap the exterior of the structure and connect at the top with a concrete slab. Timber was chosen as it speaks to the natural landscape which attracts tourists to Alto Tâmega.

The designer favored simplicity and functionality over intricacy. The center is designed using sustainable and durable materials. The roof features a series of solar panels, a zinc roof, and water reuse to ensure the structure is long-lasting.
