Due to the COVID-19 crisis and the government enforced closure of businesses and non-essential travel, Airbnb was forced to lay off around 25% of its staff and in response, the company launched the Alumni Talent Directory. This is an example of how companies are trying to do it right by their employees.
In order to achieve its goal, Airbnb turned its in-house recruiting department into an alumni placement team. Ex-employees provided a brief description of their work history, their credentials, as well as access to their resumes and LinkedIn profiles. Now, employers who are looking to hire talented individuals, with proven experience, can refer to Airbnb's Alumni Talent Director and browse in search for anything from Analysts and Business Development to Finance and Education.
