Ello Launches an Educational App, Powered by Adaptive Learn

San Francisco-based Ello has launched a new AI reading companion that leverages its proprietary child speech technology, offering personalized reading instruction at scale. The app, powered by Adaptive Learn, aligns with the Science of Reading, incorporating a phonics scope and sequence for children in grades K-3. In other words, Ello's speech recognition, which is based on the world's largest dataset of child speech, deciphers speech down to the phonemic level.

The artificial intelligence-powered app features a library of over 700 decodable books. Through this, Ello seeks to address the shortage of effective reading content. Ello's AI reading companion has received positive recognition for ethical AI practices from Common Sense Media. The company aims to make reading instruction more accessible and tailored to individual needs, emphasizing the importance of 1:1 instruction in teaching children how to read.
