Active-Cooled Desktop Chargers

Baseus Adds a Fan and Status Screen to Its 160W Hurricane 3 Charger

Baseus is adding active cooling and a front status screen to a desktop charger with the 'Hurricane 3,' a USB-C model for people powering several devices from one brick. Its 160W total output lets it split charging across connected gear, while a single port can reach 140W.

The TFT display shows live power and temperature, and its power-balancing system shifts output based on what is plugged in. The charger also uses a built-in fan with a quiet mode, giving the GaN design an active way to shed heat during long sessions. In China, it is priced at CNY 399 and sold through JD.

At CNY 399, the screen and fan turn a charger into a more transparent desk accessory, not just a hidden power block. Selling it through JD in China also tests whether buyers will pay for visible charging data and cooling in a category that usually stays featureless.

Active-cooled Charging
Compact GaN chargers with integrated fans indicate room for higher sustained power delivery in smaller desktop accessories without relying solely on passive heat dissipation.
Visible Power Management
Front-facing status screens create new value in everyday charging hardware by making wattage, temperature, and device allocation easier to understand at a glance.
Multi-device Power Balancing
Adaptive output systems reflect growing demand for chargers that automatically prioritize laptops, tablets, and phones as workstations become more device-dense.

Industries Being Reshaped

Consumer Electronics
Feature-rich charging accessories suggest differentiation potential in mature device categories through data visibility, thermal control, and premium desktop design.
Computer Accessories
Desk-based power hubs are evolving into smart productivity peripherals as remote and hybrid workers consolidate charging for multiple high-performance devices.
Power Semiconductors
GaN-based designs paired with active thermal systems point to expanding opportunities for compact, high-output components that support sustained fast charging.
