The Actelion Business Center is a Space-Age Commercial Building

— January 21, 2011 — Eco
The Actelion Business Center by Herzog & de Meuron seems like something out of a sci-fi movie, but this futuristic aspect to its design only adds to its appeal.

The Actelion Business Center doesn't just look cool, however, but also was built with carbon-neutral aspirations. Similar to many of Herzog & de Meuron's other works, the Actelion was designed in that aim the building has a number of eco-friendly green roofs, a fully integrated self-shading system that angles its windows based on the sun's position, and a number of photovoltaic cells that help provide some of its energy via solar power.

The building is another whirlwind success story for Herzog & de Meuron, and I can't wait to see what they come up with next.
