Carnival Ride-Focused Accessibility Passes

City of Grande Prairie Boasted an Accessibility Pass

The City of Grande Prairie boasted an Accessibility Pass designed to improve the Canada Day experience for individuals with physical or cognitive disabilities at Muskoseepi Park’s carnival rides. This initiative was available from 3:30 PM to 6:30 PM on July 1.

The Accessibility Pass allowed holders and their families to bypass long queues, which ensured their comfortable participation in the festivities without undue physical strain or sensory challenges. Registration for the free pass was open until June 30 at 6 PM. Individuals were able to request the perk by contacting AccessGP via email or phone. No medical documentation was required. This policy was intended to simplify access and reduce barriers for those in need.

Beyond the accessibility initiative, the Canada Day event featured a wide array of activities, including a parade, live performances by notable artists like Aaron Goodvin, carnival attractions, family-friendly zones, and a fireworks finale. Additional conveniences, such as free transit and extended accessible transportation options, further enhanced accessibility for attendees.
