Food-Safe Recycled Packaging

Scanfill Launches Food-Grade rPP Foil with Prevented Ocean Plastic™

Food-safe recycled packaging is advancing as packaging manufacturers introduce recycled materials that meet the strict requirements of food-contact applications. Scanfill's new Scanfoil rPP POP is made with 30% post-consumer recycled polypropylene sourced from Prevented Ocean Plastic™ feedstock, combining food-contact approval with transparency and performance comparable to virgin PP. The material is fully recyclable, traceable to specific coastal collection regions, and designed to help manufacturers meet upcoming Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) requirements. By recovering plastic before it reaches oceans, the solution also strengthens the supply of high-quality recycled feedstock for packaging.

For businesses, food-grade recycled plastics can simplify compliance with evolving sustainability regulations while reducing dependence on virgin materials. Greater availability of certified recycled packaging also enables brands to strengthen circular packaging strategies without compromising product quality, safety, or manufacturing efficiency.

Food-grade Recycled Plastics
Certified post-consumer polymers are expanding recycled content use into food-contact packaging, creating openings for premium circular materials that match virgin performance standards.
Traceable Waste Feedstocks
Region-specific sourcing and verified coastal collection data are turning recycled inputs into brandable proof points for sustainability, compliance, and supply chain transparency.
Regulation-ready Packaging
Upcoming packaging rules are accelerating demand for materials that combine recyclability, recycled content, and food safety in formats compatible with existing production systems.

Industries Being Reshaped

Food Packaging
Manufacturers gain new material pathways for reducing virgin plastic dependence while preserving shelf appeal, safety, and processing efficiency.
Recycling and Waste Management
Higher-value food-contact applications are strengthening incentives to capture, sort, and certify post-consumer plastic before it enters marine environments.
Consumer Packaged Goods
Brands can use compliant recycled packaging to support circularity claims and sustainability targets without major compromises in product presentation or quality.
