In the midst of a fashion Renaissance, luxe label Marc Jacobs draws inspiration from 80s design elements and haute couture icons "like Montana, Mugler, Ungaro and Saint Laurent." The Ready-to-Wear Fall 2018 collection highlights an era-appropriate vibrantly diverse color palette and overly exaggerated 80s design elements like padded shoulders, pleated trousers and bow belts.
Sporting wide brim hats and colorful bowl cuts, the models proudly showcase the thick and heavy fabrics that were deliberately layered with clashing nuances and retro references. The 80s design elements tightly envelop the Ready-to-Wear luxe collection. Although Marc Jacob sacrifices sex appeal for comic and artful silhouettes, the designer compensates with "some stretchy knit pieces and a high-waisted pant" ensembles.
