Boomers Rule Australia's Sex Trade Industry

"Boomers will put boom-boom back into the sex industry."

The sex industry is booming worldwide thanks to the internet, and a recent article at stuff.co.nz has noted some interesting trends regarding the sexual habits of baby boomers downunder. They're predicting that in the not-too-distant future, it will be the 55+ generations dominating the industry.

"Currently men over 55 contribute just 10 percent of industry revenue, with women making up eight percent," the site quoted IBISWorld Australian general manager Jason Baker. "But given the increasingly sexual liberalisation of society and particularly the sexual freedom of women, we anticipate the female customer segment will grow over the next five years.

"We predict an increase in the number of women not only paying for sexual services but visiting strip clubs and accessing sexual material via the telephone, internet, pay TV and DVD, all of which will positively affect demand for sexual services."

Makes sense. They say a woman reaches her sexual peak in her mid to late thirties. Not only that, but the media has made sex and sexuality a common topic of discussion; from movies to TV comedies, dramedies and reality shows, sex is often the foundation of the plot. It's no longer a taboo topic for any generation.
