From Unlikely Athlete Pop Songs to Presidential Parody Tunes

 - Aug 13, 2012
This year, Gotye and Carly Rae Jepsen undeniably ruled the airwaves with their songs 'Somebody That I Used to Know' and 'Call Me Maybe,' and these overplayed song parodies reflect the popularity of these artists.

From Obama to the Olympic athletes, it seems as though nearly everyone has played along with these seemingly never-ending tributes to the summer smashes. Bringing the singers more fame than they ever bargained for, and making a huge cultural splash, there's no denying the influence of these two remarkably catchy tunes. One parody actually mashed the songs together, making for an explosive hybrid of epic proportions.

Though these songs will inevitably die out at some point, their popularity has reigned supreme far longer than initially anticipated.
