These jaw-dropping ombre desserts fall in line with the rise of chromatically-minded designs, art and now, food. That the style has seeped into the realm of cooking should come as no surprise as contemporary products have incorporated the style in variety of ways.

Color-fading DIY pastries and Japanese dish desserts have taken several cues from this layering of shades. Strips of pink, purple and yellow often flow into one another via sugar, flour and of course, food coloring. As the looks are quite festive, they have been applied to suit the needs of Christmas, New Years and birthday parties, some of which have taken the motif to an extreme point by way of bow ties and petals.
