This year, beauty blogs upped the creative ante with tons of awesome hair tutorials to teach the women of the world how to look like they've just left the salon when in fact, they just watched a YouTube video or read a blog post and did their style themselves.

The idea of hair tutorials online really took flight with the release of Lauren Conrad, reality TV star-turned-beauty author/guru's blog The Beauty Department. Single-handedly, Conrad took the French braid from the playground to street style.
