Sony Announces the Launch of Its New WH-1000XM5 Headphones

Consumer electronics giant Sony has announced the launch of the WH-1000XM4, an upgraded version of its popular high-end wireless WH-1000XM4 headphones. The new model is set to arrive with a series of tweaks and spec updates that will improve the original model's already excellent sound quality and user experience.

For example, the WH-1000XM5 boasts an overall more lightweight and slimmed down model than the M5, which could have deterred certain shoppers due to its bulkiness. In addition, thanks to its slimmer headband and connecting back brackets, the headphones should deliver improved rotation.

Other notable features of the WH-1000XM5 include an improved battery, an on/off slider switch, and possibly a new driver, though this has yet to be confirmed by the company. As of right now, WH-1000XM5 is expected to drop sometime in 2022.
