Ducati Unveils Its First-Ever All-Electric Motorcycle, the 'V21L'

Italian motorcycle brand Ducati has announced the launch of its first-ever electric motorcycle called the 'V21L.' The new all-electric bike has been designed to compete in the MotoE 2023 season.

As of right now, the company has only revealed a prototype of the V21L. However, based on the teaser images, it appears the motorcycle will maintain Ducati's signature design codes while swapping out its gas-powered engine for a powerful 18kWh battery. In addition, the bike comes with lightweight carbon fiber paneling that is purpose-built for the race track. In total, the bike weighs only 496 pounds, making it 77 pounds lighter than the MotoE championship-winning Energic motorcycles.

"At this moment, the most important challenges in this field remain those related to the size, weight, autonomy of the batteries, and the availability of the charging networks. Ducati’s experience in the FIM MotoE World Cup will be fundamental support for product R&D, together with the physiological evolution of technology and chemistry," said Ducati’s director of research and development Vincenzo De Silvio.
