Rice-Based Ice Creams

The Rice Creamery Celebrates the Unique Sensory Qualities of Rice

Conventional bases for dairy-free ice creams like almond, soy or coconut offer creamy textures and distinct flavors while catering to lactose-intolerant and plant-based diets, and The Rice Creamery serves up a different vegan-friendly option. In all, there are three ice cream flavors from the brand made from rice: The Original, Elegant Dutch Chocolate and Master’s Uji Matcha.

The Original combines rice syrup and cashew paste, sugar, glucose, dietary fibre, and salt, as well as an emulsifier and a stabilizer. Rather than attempting to recreate the qualities of milk, these rice-based ice creams allow the unique sensory qualities and sweetness of rice to shine.

Beyond convenience stores and local retailers in Japan, The Rice Creamery has plans to introduce its unique desserts to consumers in the United States with a launch later this year.
