Cabinet Rx Replaces Single-Use Bottles with a Refillable System

Cabinet Health first challenged the pharmaceutical industry with refillable, stackable bottles that reduce single-use plastic bottle waste and now, the sustainable healthcare company is launching a refillable prescription service called Cabinet Rx.

This newly announced D2C refillable mail-order prescription service is starting off with more than 150 commonly prescribed medicines, which will be mailed to consumers in refillable glass bottles within home compostable mailers.

Although plastic is a standard in the pharmaceutical industry for being inexpensive, waterproof, safe and effective, prescription bottles are notoriously difficult to recycle. "When just one single patient switches to Cabinet Health Rx, we can divert hundreds of pounds of pharmaceutical plastic over the course of their lifetime," said Russell Gong, co-founder and president of Cabinet, in a press release.
