PlayStation's Patapon Game is Coming to Steam and Switch

Bandai Namco has announced the release of Patapon 1 + 2 Replay, a remastered collection of the first two games in the Patapon series. Originally developed for the PlayStation Portable (PSP) in 2007 and 2008, these rhythm-based action-adventure games are being updated for modern platforms, including PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC. The remastered bundle retains the core gameplay mechanics, where players use rhythmic drum beats to command an army of Patapons, small one-eyed creatures, in their quest to reclaim their homeland. The collection introduces new features such as enhanced graphics, three difficulty settings (Easy, Normal, and Hard), and timing adjustment options to make the gameplay more accessible to a wider audience.

The remaster also includes additional quality-of-life improvements, such as the ability to display commands on-screen at all times. Players can customize their Patapon army by collecting materials to craft weapons and equipment, with over 400 items available. The game maintains its strategic depth, requiring players to assemble squads with distinct roles, such as shield-bearing Tatepons or bow-wielding Yumipons, to tackle various challenges. Patapon 1 + 2 Replay is set to launch on July 11, 2025, offering both longtime fans and new players an opportunity to experience this unique blend of rhythm and strategy.
