SOM Designs a Terminal at the Kempegowda International Airport

Global design studio SOM designs a specially captivating terminal at the Kempegowda International Airport. It is located in Bangalore, India, and is inspired by the city's rich heritage and beautiful landscapes. It is described by the studio as a "terminal in a garden" as it is filled with plants made in conjunction with Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla as well as Grant Associates.

The goal was to create a tranquil space in what is usually a bustling and busy international airport. Design principal at the firm, Peter Lefkovits tells Dezeen, "Terminal 2 (T2) inverts every expectation of how an airport can look and feel. With a focus on rich, sensory experiences rooted in nature, we created a calming oasis within the bustle of an international airport."
