Johnnie Walker Black Ruby is a new expression that retains the characteristics of the brand's flagship Black Label, yet it shares a sweeter blend aged in red wine, oloroso and Pedro Ximénez Sherry, and ex-Bourbon barrels.
"At the heart of Johnnie Walker Black Ruby is an expression from the boldly progressive distillery of Roseisle," noted Master Blender Dr. Emma Walker, "The team and I experimented with different distillation techniques at Roseisle, eventually focusing on a uniquely fruity distillate. This experimental whisky-making involved running fermentation for longer than usual to create amplified fruity notes."
Taste-wise, Johnnie Walker Black Ruby is said to have sweet red berry notes and the essence of delicate green grass.
