Great Smoky Mountains National Park Announces 2026 Activities

Great Smoky Mountains National Park has launched its 2026 season of adaptive programming. The destination offers a ranger-led experience from May through October that includes fly fishing with Trout Unlimited, a night hike on Little River Trail, biking on Deep Creek and Indian Creek Trails, an overnight backcountry camping trip, and other hikes. The programming is intended to accommodate visitors with limited mobility and their families.

The Great Smoky Mountains National Park notes that four GRIT Freedom Chairs are available for use. These manual off-road wheelchairs can be checked out free of charge for use on select park trails, with both adult and child sizes available.

The 2026 adaptive programming at the Great Smoky Mountains National Park is made possible through the strategic and ongoing collaboration with Catalyst Sports, Knox County and Friends of the Smokies.
