Casio Unveils the 'DW-D5600' G-SHOCK Polar-Powered Smartwatch

The G-SHOCK 'DW-H5600' commemorates the 40th anniversary of the original G-SHOCK and carries over its signature octagonal design. It has two replaceable bezel styles; the first is all-black, and the second adds colorful patterns showing the DW-5600 circuit board's wiring schematic.

Polar, which offers information on Running Index, Cardio Load, Energy Sources, and Nightly Recharge, powers the heart rate monitoring feature on the watch. Heart rate information is gathered when consumers use one of the G-SHOCK's training modes: running, walking, gym workouts, or interval training.

But unlike the GBD-H2000, the new watch isn't as fitness-oriented. While there is no internal GPS, it uses the one from your smartphone to help track steps and activity levels. The watch has a week-long battery life, and the time will still be displayed even if the main watch's batteries have gone out thanks to solar power capabilities.
