Meta Introduces ‘Community Chats’ on Messenger and Facebook

Meta announced that it is now implementing ‘Community Chats’ into Facebook and Messenger in order to organize chats into categories. This feature allows users to create audio and video channels, admin-only chats, and event chats. Similar to Discord’s user interface, ‘Community Chats’ are designed to make organization easier for conversations involving multiple people. These chats extend to include not just your friends but also includes other individuals so that users can join discussions based on their interests. Since this feature will allow users who are not friends to communicate, Meta will be rolling out moderation tools to keep everyone safe.

‘Community Chats’ can be created from both Messenger and Facebook Groups. Meta has plans to roll out this new feature after a series of tests and has already started adding features similar to Discord and Slack, like the "@everyone" functionality.
