Aston Martin Partners with Britishvolt to Develop New Battery Technology

Britsh automaker Aston Martin has teamed up with startup Britishvolt to develop new bespoke high-performance batteries for future electric vehicles. The two companies will work together to create new cells and packs with the intention of redefining electric battery standards, both in terms of charging time and repeatable on-track performance.

Although Britishvolt was founded in 2019, the company has begun working with a variety of major auto manufacturers, such as Lotus and Mercedes-Benz. In addition, the startup has just opened its first battery plant in the U.K., which will focus on producing its newest lithium-ion battery innovations for both electric vehicles and energy storage.

So far, Aston Martin has confirmed the launch of its first two all-electric vehicles, an SUV and sports car, which are set to be released in 2015. Likely, these new vehicles will be powered by the Britishvolt-made batteries.
