Alfa Romeo Plans to Use NFTs to Track The Tonale SUV's Performance Data

Italian automaker Alfa Romeo has announced that it will be using NFTs to monitor and record maintenance for its newest vehicle, the Tonale SUV. What this means is that the vehicle's performance data will automatically be stored and encrypted on the blockchain.

Based on the car's NFT and its corresponding data, Alfa Romeo will be able to certify its cars themselves rather than rely on third-party vendors. In doing so, the company is also improving its overall transparency for end users.

"Digitalization is a key enabler of our metamorphosis," said the head of marketing at Alfa Romeo, Francesco Calcara. "[The NFTs] will sustain the residual values of our models as we are the first in the market to adopt this next-generation technology."
