The Conceptual 'Airable' Air Mask Utilizes Air Currents Instead of Filters

The ongoing pandemic has transitioned the face mask from optional to essential in virtually all parts of the world, so the conceptual 'Airable' air mask is imagined as a tech-fueled version that could help in the present and into the future.

The wearable works by being worn over the face like a pair of glasses and will go to work creating an air current that runs vertically and horizontally out of the unit. The fan system features a filter within and will work effectively to prevent pathogens or contaminants from being breathed in by the wearer without the need for physical filters to be placed over the nose and mouth.

The conceptual 'Airable' air mask is the design work of Kim Seulgee, Ko Sungchan, Lee Wonho and Park Hyein, and is the winner of the Red Dot Design Concept Award for 2021.
