Santander Bank has initiated a collaborative effort with the Snowball application, a digital platform designed for the disability community, to implement a transparent evaluation system — known as 'accessibility scores' — for the inclusive accommodations at its Work Café locations.
The 'accessibility score' system assigns a numerical score, similar to a public health rating for restaurants, based on an assessment of both physical and cognitive accessibility features. These may include accommodations for wheelchair users, individuals with dyslexia, neurodivergent conditions, and dementia.
The program has been launched initially across five Work Café locations in the UK, all of which received the highest possible rating following a professional audit. These establishments offer complimentary services such as co-working areas, meeting rooms, and internet access. The founder of Snowball, disability activist Simon Sansome, has endorsed this partnership.
