The First Ukrainian International Bank (FUIB), in collaboration with urban development firm Big City Lab, has introduced a new initiative called Accessibility Check. This program, which is part of FUIB’s broader Live Towards platform for veterans and civilians, is aimed at helping small businesses improve physical accessibility for customers with disabilities.
The Accessibility Check initiative offers financial and technical support to businesses seeking to remove barriers in their establishments. Eligible participants — including cafes, retail shops, salons, and other micro-enterprises — can receive 50% funding for modifications such as wheelchair-accessible entrances or restroom adaptations, with expert guidance provided by Big City Lab. The initiative seeks to address the growing need for inclusive spaces in Ukraine, particularly as the number of people with disabilities has risen due to ongoing conflict.
