The innovative food ideas featured in today's top trends demonstrate the extent to which food is becoming less about nourishing our bodies and more about a unique consumer experience.

Parents constantly tell their children to "stop playing with their food," but it is clear that artist Mr. Singh completely ignored this in his latest collection of collages. Using a medley of different foods including a donut, a fried egg, waffles, tangerine slices and bacon, Mr. Singh arranges them in a way that creates a picture of a disgruntled pug.

Another innovative food experience is seen with the unconventionally minimalist McDonald's packaging in Japan for its luxury burger trio. From the gold foil to the gold bows on the white bags, these fast food burgers undergo a lavish makeover.
