I don’t think we will ever see those supercars around, but it is still a unique and innovative car. American designer, Joe Harmon, 27, started the project with other students at North Carolina State University to see whether it was possible to build a performance car out of wood. Their creation - the Splinter - should be completed later this year and they believe it will be capable of speeds in excess of 240mph.

Harmon's obsession and amazement with wood translates to his exceptional projects. He notes that the feel, look and smell of wood are truly one of a kind and cannot be replicated, and the advantages of this material far outweigh the disadvantages.

Talk about unconventional supercar! Maybe its time we do away with shiny and sleek cars cruising fast our streets for the meantime and feast our eyes to this unique creation. Now I wonder how other car makers like Toyota can top this one.
