An international collective of industry player and non-profit organizations have joined forces in order to create an innovative new wildlife app that is designed to empower staff and security personnel in the aviation industry with the information, tools and resources they need to be able to spot and report instances of wildlife trafficking.
The Wildlife Sentinel app was devised in response to airlines stating that they saw a need for an anonymous wildlife trafficking and crime reporting system that would streamline the process of reporting suspicious cargo, baggage and passengers to relevant law enforcement authorities. Accordingly, the app has a form that lets users fill in to the pertinent information before having it checked by Crime Stoppers International before it's passed on to law enforcement.
Available in English, Spanish and Portuguese versions with more languages in the pipeline, this wildlife app is a great example of how mobile technologies can be used to create standardized crime-fighting protocols across a particular industry, in this case aviation.
