This year, White Ribbon's 'Walk a Mile in Her Shoes' initiative is going virtual, with the event running from September 26th until October 2nd. Described as "a walk to end gender-based violence, racism, and all forms of discrimination," Walk a Mile in Her Shoes aims to raise funds in support of White Ribbon, a global movement that calls upon men and boys to take a stand.
Those wishing to participate in the walk can do so by walking one mile in the heels of their choice, or otherwise raising awareness through t-shirts, signs, and other statements. While they're able to participate anywhere that they choose, they can show their solidarity online by using the #WhiteRibbonWalk hashtag. On October 2nd, all teams and sponsors will have a chance to come together and celebrate virtually. Registration is open on WalkAMileToronto.ca, where donations are also accepted.
This year, White Ribbon seeks to reach a goal of $235,000.
