Helsinki-based Japanese designer Arihiro Miyake was awarded ‘Special Mention’ at Salon Satellite in Milano for his designs this year. In his displayed collection were the ‘Trush In’ cable bags. The recycled PET fiber felt bags are outfitted with 4 electric sockets. Electrical cords can be contained inside the bags to cut down on the tangle of electrical spaghetti that many of us deal with at our desks. As a bonus, the bright colors add cheery accents to the space where they’re placed.  In this exhibition, Arihiro is aiming to switch the functional essence into a new aesthetic. The theme is an aesthetic that is purely indicated by core design factor and leads us to the innovative and extreme nature of tomorrow. The presented designs introduce specific materials and technologies, such as power-LED and recycled PET fibre, concerning sustainability as an inevitable issue of the future design.
