You know those pesky sales clerks that forcibly try to upsell you? Well, technology could replace them soon, as seen in the above video of an innovative new touchscreen cash register.

Upselling is critical to growing business, but it can actually drive customers away if they’re feeling pushed. This futuristic cash register makes suggestions without being invasive. After customers scan their items, an image pops up depicting the objects they are about to purchase. The computer makes a suggestion based on this and projects the upsell items onto a virtual mannequin, accompanying the items already selected. If the customer likes these new items, the hope is that they will add them to their order.
