The Reel Store is set to open as of April 2022 as the UK's first permanent immersive digital gallery. This space will be occupying the former home of the Coventry Evening Telegraph newspaper and it will be kicking off with a Machine Memoirs: Space exhibition with NASA and digital artist Refik Anadol.
The space will offer a spacially adaptive sound system and a large-scale projection mapping canvas for showing dynamic images with 14 4K laser projectors. Anadol uses artificial intelligence to sift through millions of images of space captured by NASA satellites and the International Space Station, and the technology comes up with new digital interpretations of the galaxy based on its findings. As such, Machine Memoirs: Space offers a look into an alternative universe.
