The Other Oil has a distinctly retro feel, mostly because of a certain requirement given to the At Pace branding agency from the company. The one guideline was that the company use a specific image with the design, which led At Pace to run with this vintage theme in terms of font and coloring.
The specific image shows an olive with an oil rig sitting on top, spewing liquid from the top of the structure. This is an interesting choice, considering oil that's mined from the ground doesn't exactly have an appetizing image linked to it. However, hopefully consumers will look past this and appreciate the creativity involved in coming up with the idea. Other than this image the branding is quite simple, with retro font on a yellow background.
