Founded in 1968, TechnoServe existed before the contemporary social enterprise vocabulary entered the landscape but in many ways, it is aligned with social business in that its goal is to use business solutions as an effort to thwart poverty in various countries around the world.
The international nonprofit espouses neoliberal values of individual hard-work, making it an easy fit for the business world. Andrew Eder of TechnoServe (he's the Marketing and Communications Manager) recently wrote for Business Fights Poverty for World Water Day last month about a coffee processing program in Ethiopia that promotes sustainable use of water.
