The Swap-O-Matic Trades Products for Recyclable Materials

Instead of taking money as a form of payment, the Swap-O-Matic vendor machine shoots out items based on the recyclable materials it receives.

The Swap-O-Matic encourages green living as it promotes recycling by taking away the “drag-factor” that comes with having to take out the trash. Instead, one can compile one’s recyclable material for use at the next Swap-O-Matic machine. The company behind this concept realize that the small instances in which citizens decide not to recycle accumulate to larger environmental issues and hope that using the Swap-O-Matic will influence society for the better. This project has already shown its impact, having been featured in the Lower Eastside Girl’s Club and the Blue Stockings Cafe in New York City.
