The 'Spring Lamb' Ad Highlights the Diversity of Australian Culture
Joey Haar — September 24, 2016 — Social Good
The 'Spring Lamb' ad put out by Meat and Livestock Australia celebrates diversity. Though ostensibly purporting the idea that lamb can bring people of all races, ethnicities, genders, sexual orientations, and more together, the ad more broadly does an impressive and charming job of highlighting diversity in both Australia and the world as a whole.
The ad campaign begins with a white male (set up as the host of the ad) who almost immediately gets replaced by a more diverse host. It continues with a tracking shot of a diverse cast of characters on an idyllic pasture gathering around for some lamb kebabs.
The Spring Lamb ad has been received positively, making it a successful response to public criticism of Meat and Livestock Australia's former ad campaigns that attempted to make lamb a macho meat.
