Ideas lurk as much within a curtain as they do behind a curtain, which the 'Source Material' exhibit shows. Source Material displays seemingly mundane everyday objects. Yet each and every one of these items inspired leading creative minds to create original works that will resonate with people for years to come. From an old Singer sewing machine to a dirty copy of Charles Bukowski's Mockingbird Wish Me Luck, the objects range in purpose and variety.
Curated by designers Jasper Morrison and Jonathan Olivares, and Apartamento magazine editor-in-chief Marco Velardi, the Source Material exhibit involves 54 creative types who submitted keepsakes and reference objects. Fast Co Design notes, "One theme bubbles up: Many objects hark back to the designers' youths." Source Material is currently showing at Kaleidoscope Project Space in Milan, Italy.
