The Sony DSC-HX99 RNV camera kit has been developed as a photography solution for consumers with visual impairments to help them snap photos in a way that accommodates for their abilities. The camera takes the form of the namesake Cybershot DSC-HX99 that was first released in 2018 and is paired with a Retissa Neoviewer from Japan-based QD Laser. This will project the image directly from the camera into the retina of the user which, for some, will allow them to see faces and read signs to capture photos or video in a more natural manner.
The Sony DSC-HX99 RNV camera kit is expected to arrive this summer for $600 with the brand reportedly bearing the majorly of the cost to make the device in an act of support for blind/low-vision community.
