Though Twitter is a major up-and-comer in the social media realm, Facebook remains the dominant source of online activity. Per quarter, Facebook is pulling greatly ahead of its next closest competitor, Twitter. From a business perspective, companies on average have ten times the fanbase on Facebook than they do over Twitter.
However, as Twitter has shown considerable growth and occupies an entirely different function than Facebook, it will be interesting to watch the changes made over the 2013 year.
