American grocery chain Fresh Thyme Market has partnered with business management software brand Cornerstone for Natural to deploy Smart Shelf Tags, an innovative QR technology that allows shoppers to scan product tags with their smartphones.
Smart Shelf Tags come equipped with Cornerstone's patented ELi Codes technology, which enables them, upon being scanned, to display videos, PDFs, images, web content, and other product information. Overall, the new shelf tags aim to empower shoppers by providing more information to support their purchase decisions. According to Fresh Thyme Market, implementing the new "smart tags" has resulted in more than three times the amount of sales in some categories.
“It comes as no surprise that partnering with our suppliers to provide our shoppers with great product information at the shelf would increase sales,” said Jonathan Lawrence, senior director of grocery and natural living at Fresh Thyme. “What is surprising is that more retailers haven’t caught on to it.”
