German Police May Use Vultures Instead of Sniffer Dogs
The German Police may replace sniffer dogs with vultures to locate dead bodies. As a part of the project, the police department has trained a Turkish Vulture chick named 'Sherlock' to harness its incredible sense of smell to track dead bodies. Vultures have a strong sense of smell that can detect rotting flesh from 3,000 feet up in the air and they can cover vast areas compared to sniffer dogs.
Sherlock has been trained by German Alonso, who believes that vultures are going to take in charge of the sky as a team in the future.
