Bulgari and Tadao Ando Join Forces on the Serpenti Collection
Award-winning architect Tadao Ando creates new designs that are set to join the luxurious Serpenti collection by Bulgari. The timepieces are made with inspiration drawn from the beauty of snakes -- the resulting capsule is dubbed the Serpenti Tuboga x Tadao Ando series. It is comprised of four watches that are a physical representation of Ando's perspective of the Serpenti jewelry capsule.
Bulgari executive director of product creation Fabrizio Buonamassa Stigliani speaks about the collection, stating "Tadao Ando possesses a rare creativity, inspired by nature and its transient character. Aligning with Serpenti felt instinctive. In a metaphor for time and transformation, indeed for the renewal of nature itself: the serpent likewise sheds its skin and emerges anew, its colors transformed."
Ando turned his attention to the four seasons when creating the watches and each face represents the respective season. Starting with summer, it was inspired by a sunny forest and has a green face with a yellow gold and steel strap. Autumn is represented by a tiger's eye finish, winter by mother of pearl and spring celebrates cherry blossom trees.
