As a one of the three co-founders of Uber and the creator of the newly launched Ride app, it's fair to say that Oscar Salazar knows a thing or two about transportation. Ride is a service that's also designed to help people get around, but it puts an emphasis on people who are commuting and carpooling.

The service targets areas where public transportation is lacking and uses a matching system to pair employees with other coworkers who want to collectively cut down costs. Companies can sign up through Ride and have employees opt in to become drivers or passengers. Using an algorithm, Ride suggests the best possible routes to take between work and home to provide maximum efficiency. In order to reimburse a driver's expenses, Ride cashlessly collects $0.12 per mile for each passenger.
