Surf season is almost fully upon us and that means that San Diego-based artist Rich Morrison can really put his new Beer Can Surfboard to test soon. Yes, you read right, Rich Morrison has built an incredibly eco-friendly surfboard made out of 72 recycled beer cans.

Created in collaboration with master surfboard maker Gary Seagraves, Rich Morrison’s Beer Can Surfboard is definitely unique. Combining two of the surfer’s ultimate loves (drinking/partying and surfing), it also focuses on their more innate appreciation for nature and the environment.

Rich Morrison’s Beer Can Surfboard was essentially made by burying the used cans in polyurethane and epoxy, which ends up providing a lightweight, yet stiff center core for the board. It is part of Rich Morrison’s Enviro Surf Art Series.
