As much as additive manufacturing technology has completely transformed the way footwear is made for consumers, there has been little exploration into the making of more than just everyday shoes like sneakers and heels—Materialise and Tailored Fits AG are hoping to change this by introducing 3D-printed boots for skiers.
Together, Materialise and Tailored Fits AG are set to launch what is being called "the first end-to-end digital supply chain for custom-fit, 3D-printed ski boots."
Although there are systems in place that help to mold different kinds of winter activity boots to the shape of one's foot, these new 3D-printed ski boots have the potential to transform the entirety of a product's fit, as well as how comfortable it feels on the foot.
