London and New York's phone boxes are a staple of cities and are internationally recognized, but with smartphone technology, they can often go unused.
Co-working firm Bar Works in New York aims to convert phone boxes into small offices and will soon develop 20 of these unique office spaces. Called 'Pod Works,' the booths will be equipped with many standard office features including Wi-Fi, computers, printers, scanners, outlets and a coffee machine. Subscriptions for the boxes are affordable, costing only $29 a month for 24/7 access.
The move towards micro spaces and spatial efficiency is becoming increasingly undiscriminating and this project is a great example of making the most out of unused spaces. The idea to convert phone boxes into work spaces is quite unique, and could be a good venture for young entrepreneurs looking to start a business.
