Project Sunroof is a new Google Project that aims to make it easier to navigate around solar panel installation. The project aims to come up with an intelligent and convenient way to provide statistics and pertinent financial advice on what solar energy can do for a specific user.
The project uses data from Google Maps to calculate how much sunlight a particular roof receives throughout the day. Numbers on how much sunlight can be used per hours and how much space you have available for solar panels can also be attained. Moreover, Project Sunroof offers all sorts of practical information by suggesting nearby companies for installation.
Project Sunroof currently only extends to San Francisco, Fresno and Boston but could eventually be made available elsewhere.
